Modern slavery is ever-present in the global supply chain and on the rise in Australia. You can read more about modern slavery legislation on the Attorney General's website. If modern slavery risk is identified in your supply chain, it could become a reputational risk as the business is impacting human rights.

The Australian Commonwealth government have recently added additional requirements for businesses to monitor their supply chain risks caused by modern slavery. The reporting threshold is being reduced, and prosecutions are being put in place, requiring more businesses to disclose their management action. If a company does not trip the threshold, the business may still be required to have modern slavery controls in place for tendering and supply to large firms that do trip thresholds.
